Everybody in the PoolThe North Bay Y Titans Swim Team is a not for profit competitive swim club that is run by parent volunteers.  Its origins date back to 1967 and coincide with the construction of the Centennial Pool.  Over the past four decades, the team has evolved and developed thousands of North Bay and area youth by honing their swim skills; fostering self discipline and a strong work ethic.  More importantly, it has helped in the development of good citizens and leaders in all walks of life.

The Titans Swim Team is a registered club with Swim Ontario, the provincial sport governing body, and competes in the Northeastern Region (NEOR) of Ontario, and with Swim Canada, the national sport governing body. Through these affiliations, our athletes are registered to compete provincially and nationally.

Dive inThe club, now in its 43rd year, hires professional swim coaches to provide excellent training and has achieved remarkable results.  Currently, the club has over 70 swimmers that range from ages six to 18 years from our introductory level to our senior level, competing at provincial, national and international events.

Throughout the history of the club, there have been many successes – both on individual and team levels.  The Titans organization has watched many swimmers grow up achieving personal bests as well as successes on regional, provincial, national and international levels.  Recently, swimmers have represented our club at the 2010 Ontario Summer Games in Sudbury, Senior and Junior Nationals, 2009 Youth Olympics in Australia, North American Challenge Cup and the 2008 Olympic Trials.  Often, many of our swimmers leave the club to go to university on scholarships.

Breast StrokeOur club’s head coach, Dr. Cliff Noth started his career in coaching in 1983 with the Canadian Dolphin Swim Club (now the Pacific Dolphins), one of Canada’s premiere swim teams.  He was a national development coach with them through to the 1988 Olympic Trials and coached with some of the greatest minds in the swimming world.  After that he was positioned to run his own program and coach with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.  He decided to go back to school and attend the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto.  While attending school, he was coaching for the North York Aquatic Club and the University of Toronto. When he moved his family to North Bay, Ontario he began coaching with the North Bay Titans.  He has be named a Provincial Mentor Coach and selected to several provincial team coaching staffs.  In January 2009, he was selected by Swimming Canada to head coach the Canadian National Youth team at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival.

The Titans swim team prides itself in catering to the needs of those swimmers who simply enjoy swimming as healthy exercise to those who thrive on competition and have Olympic aspirations.  The Titans are also very much about camaraderie, team spirit and friendship.
