Level 1A – Provincial and National Development Group

These swimmers are focusing on qualifying for Junior Provincials and Age Group nationals or Eastern Canadian Championships.  These athletes should have a majority of pre-provincial times and are closing in on Junior Provincial times.  This group trains 15 hours a week and requires 80% attendance to practices.  Good work ethic and effort on a day to day basis is also required.  This group will focus on making the adjustment from one to two practices daily.

Level 2 – Pre-provincial Development Group

This is a group designed for the dedicated swimmer who is at the developmental or pre-provincial level and is working towards more pre-provincial or junior provincial times.  Some younger junior provincial qualifiers will also train in this group.  The goal of this group is to improve the fitness and skill level of the swimmers and introduce the swimmers to morning practices.  While the focus is still on skill development, more and more is done to help with race strategies and race fitness.  The training at this level includes an increase in the amount of distance that the athlete will train as well as learning to increase dedication to the sport.

Level 3 – Regional Development Group

This is a group designed for the swimmer who is at the development level and working towards the pre-provincial qualifying times.  The goal of the level is to improve skills of the swimmers and introduce some training concepts.  While the focus is still on skill development, more and more is done to improve their speed and fitness levels.  With many opportunities to compete at local and out of town swim meets, the emphasis at this level will be to have fun while learning the essentials of a great sport.

Level 4 – Grass Roots – Future Olympians

This is a group designed for the swimmer who is new to the sport of competitive swimming.  This is a skill orientated level where the swimmers will learn the basics of competitive swimming and be given several opportunities to compete locally.  It is a fun environment with the skills of the sport intertwined.  There is no pressure to attend swim meets unless the swimmer is interested.  It is at this level where the swimmer is introduced to all the basics of the sport like the four different strokes, starts and turns.  Our goal is to keep it a fun and relaxed environment that will encourage the swimmer to move on in the sport.
